The Japanese Folding Hand Fan, known as Sensu, is believed to have originated in Nagoya during the 18th century. Unlike its counterparts from Kyoto, the Nagoya-based Sensu had a specific number of ribs to suit the formal and conservative style preferred by the Nagoyan wearers. These fans gained popularity during the Taisho era (1912-1926).

A closer look reveals the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail put into creating each Japanese Sensu Hand Fan. From the stitching to the glue work that holds the bamboo together, the quality is evident. When purchasing these fans, we ensure minimal wear on the edges of the bamboo tips and any small tears in the fan material. Each Sensu Hand Fan is unique, serving different purposes and adding a touch of elegance to any occasion.
