Really cute pair of ‘Donko Kokeshi’ that date back to the 1950/60s. These are considered to be the first of the emerging Sosaku (Creative) era of Japanese doll-making where more detailed shapes and designs emerged from 1950 onwards.
This colourful pair are also nodders (movable bobble-heads).
If you look closer you will spot a small squirrel painted on kokeshi's body.
